Hey friends!
A couple of you have asked lately about the opening prayer we’ve been praying on Sunday nights. It is a paraphrase of Paul’s prayer for the Colossians (Col 1:3-14), and we are making it our prayer during this teaching series. It’s a rich prayer, full of confidence in God’s goodness, reminders of Christ’s work on the cross, and wise requests that go to the heart of who we are as followers of Jesus. I encourage you to pray it daily as well, both for you personally and for our church.
God of all grace, cause me and cause Life to:
Live by faith, to walk in love, and to be a voice of hope.
Cause us to know you so well that we understand what you want to do in us and through us - and knowing, help us to live it out and bring you joy!
Let our faith bless others, let us grow in our knowledge of who you are, strengthen us with endurance and patience to weather every difficulty, and overflow our lives with joy-filled gratitude.
Remind me today that I have been redeemed – that with his own blood, your Son Jesus bought me back from slavery to sin and death. I no longer belong to darkness, but have been transferred to the light, and in him I am qualified to share in the inheritance awaiting your people (add your own reflections, praises, confessions, needs, wants). In Christ’s name, amen.
Lord bless you my friends, and we’ll look forward to being with you this weekend –
Tim
