Hey friends!

I am pleased to announce that on June 8th Life Cov will be hosting another Opportunity International night, an amazing ministry we have been blessed to partner with since 2004.

If you are unfamiliar with this great organization, Opportunity International (OI) is one of the pioneers of microenterprise development - a simple, brilliant, and amazingly effective tool to help people out of poverty. It works like this: your donation funds a small loan (around $100) which provides a person with no means of supporting themselves start-up funds to begin a business. These are mostly AIDS widows, and the businesses they start include sewing clothing, banana stands, phone banks, commercial gardens, making handbags, etc. In addition to the funding, they receive training in how to run and grow a business, manage their finances, AIDS education, and they become part of a commerce/support group of their peers (known as a Trust Group).

Over four to six months, these loans are paid back and then given out again to another AIDS widow, then another, then another. And the success rate of this program has been amazing, with 98% of these businesses becoming viable and the loans being repaid (for more details, go to www.opportunity.org).

This is a concrete way to change a person's life forever.

On June 8th we will be joined by Jon Yasuda, OI’s area representative, and our own Peter Thorrington, a long time member of OI’s board. Our offering that night will go to fund loans in our adopted nation of Mozambique. This is a great night to bring a friend!

Lord bless you my friends, and we’ll look forward to being with you this weekend –

Tim
