Life News 6-5-08

Hey friends!

So have you heard about all the runners at Life these days, and what they’re running for? A bunch of our young ladies recently ran the La Jolla Half-Marathon (and then a few of them did the PV Half-Marathon a couple weeks later. Some people just like pain). In addition, 10 of us are doing the infamous USMC Mud Run this weekend (it’s part of the Marine Corp training course they open to the public, complete with walls to jump, belly crawls, water obstacles, and a 2mile hill where everyone barfs. Good times).

And since there was all this running going on, and runners are always asked if they are running for a cause, we decided to utilize all this sweat to raise some money to fund microloans in Mozambique! (see our fun little website at www.firstgiving.com/runforOI)

All this ties in with worship this weekend, when we will be hosting a representative from Opportunity International, and hearing from our own Peter Thorrington. You’ll hear some great stories about Mozambicans we have been able to help with our past giving, and hear about some of the great vision OI has for expanding their ministry in Mozambique. This is a great night to bring a friend.

Our offering on Sunday will be used to give Mozambicans (who are facing an unemployment rate of 75% and live on $1/day) the opportunity to start small businesses, care for their families, and work their way out of poverty with dignity. Is this reason to praise God or what?

Lord bless you my friends, and we’ll see you this weekend –

Tim
